SPAM issue handling

How HostingOutfit Handles SPAM Issues

Last updated: May 7, 2025

SPAM is one of those headaches that pretty much every hosting provider runs into sooner or later, and we're no exception. Because even a single spam-spewing server can drag down the reputation of our whole network and land our IPs on blocklists, we keep a strict, no-nonsense policy around it.

The good news is that our process is short and there are no surprises in it. Here's exactly how it goes:

  1. We open an abuse ticket in your Client Area so you know what's happening and what was reported.

  2. The affected VPS is suspended. We know that sounds heavy-handed, but with spam the priority is to stop the bleeding immediately, before it does more damage to you and to everyone else on the network.

  3. If you get back to us with a reasonable explanation and the problem is fixed, we lift the suspension and carry on as normal. In most cases this is where it ends, because spam usually comes from a compromised account or a vulnerable script rather than anything you did on purpose.

  4. If we don't hear from you within 3 days, or the spam keeps going and you won't address it, we'll have no choice but to end the relationship and close the account.

That last step is genuinely the outcome we want least, and it's almost always avoidable. Reply to the ticket, tell us what you've found, clean up the source, and we'll get you back online. We're not looking to lose customers, we're just trying to keep the network healthy for everyone on it.
